Infrastructure Fees continue to increase

Written on the 22 February 2019

Effective 4th March for Patrick's Terminals for both Import & Export containers:

Sydney  $80.00 per container
Brisbane $75.00 per container
Melbourne $85.00 per container

Patrick's have advised that no increase has been announced for Fremantle, with a Patrick spokesman stating they would not know about that terminal "until we have been through the tender process and costs are known".

In a statement to customers, Patrick stated the infrastructure surcharges recovered "a portion of the full costs associated with providing these landside operations which are essential to continue to provide our customers with superior and efficient landside service levels".

"We regret this change to our tariff, but we have been left with no alternative in the current challenging economic environment without sacrificing infrastructure investment," Patrick stated.

The Patrick announcement comes hot on the heels of a decision by Victoria International Container Terminal to increase its infrastructure surcharge 77% to $85.00 per container starting from 1 March.

The infrastructure surcharge is increasing from $48 per container, which was implemented on 27 March 2018.

Effective 1st January 2019 for DP World for both Import & Export Containers:

Sydney  $80.00+gst per container
Brisbane $95.00+gst per container
Melbourne $95.00+gst per container

Per the notice released by the General Manager of NSW & QLD DP World, Australia:

"Ongoing access to Terminals will be conditional on payment of the charges are per DP World Conditions. Infrastructure access and usage charges are vital for ongoing investment. In the past year, DP World Australia continued to invest heavily in critical infrastructure across the business. Equity in charging is also important. DP World Australia is continuing the journey to a rebalanced revenue recovery from waterside to landside, to ensure a sustainable future in an increasingly competitive market.
A financially healthy Stevedoring industry is vital for the long-term economic well-being of Australia"

Brisbane $35.00

Whilst we endeavour to minimise costs to our clients at all opportunities these price increases are outside of our control.
